About

My name is Kara Brown. I love to help others realize their travel dreams! I use my skills to help clients plan the trip that fits their goals. If you’ve never worked with a travel agent before you are wondering, “How does this work?”

We’ll start with some basic details; traveler’s information and a few of your most important goals for your trip. Don’t worry if you don’t have every detail worked out, yet. That’s all a part of the process! We’ll work together to create a budget and itinerary outline that meets your goals.

Then, the real fun begins! I’ll send you itinerary details for all of the travel elements you need (flight, hotel, tour, cruise, etc.). This is where your dream becomes reality and you get to choose which options you’d like to book!

After your trip is completed, I will receive a commission. This commission comes from any travel provider with whom I made a booking for you.
When you’re ready, let’s set coordinates for your next travel adventure!

FAQ’s

Q: Can’t I do all of the planning and booking myself? – A: Of course you can. But, booking through an agent gives you so many advantages!

  • Exclusive deals – Agents build relationships with vendors. These relationships give them access to sales and deals not always open to the public.
  • Peace of mind – A delayed flight threatens to ruin your plans. An agent can help you plan a course correct. Most travel suppliers streamline their process of vouchers and refunds for travel agents. Anyone booking on their own is left to fend for themselves.
  • Help with the details – Do you need a visa? What weather should you prepare for? An agent can help guide you through the planning and preparation process.

Q: Do I have to book all travel elements through you? – A: No, I can plan as much or as little as you need.

Q: How much do you earn in commission? – A: The commission amount varies by provider, and travel elements. My first consideration when I make recommendations to clients is what will fit their needs, not the commission amount.

Q: What fees do you charge? – A: Planning fee’s are charged once a proposal is accepted, and before bookings are made. All other fees are charged after booking is made, changed, or canceled.

My fee structure is as follows:

  • Planning fee (for Custom Trips, and Cruises), per person: $30
  • Group Planning fee (for groups of 10 or more): $250
  • Air Ticketing Fee, per person: $20
  • Frequent Flier/Award Booking Fee, per person: $25
  • Booking Change Fee: $15
  • Trip Cancellation Fee: 10% of entire cost of trip, in addition to any supplier penalties
  • Itinerary Design fee (included in Planning fee) : $10 per trip

Q: Why do you charge a cancellation fee? – A: I do not earn a commission on any canceled booking. Charging a cancellation fee protects the investment of my time.

Q: Do I pay you directly for bookings? – No, payment(s) will be made directly to each travel supplier (airline, hotel, etc.).

Q: Do I have to pay the whole cost for my trip upfront? – This will vary between travel suppliers. For some reservations, travelers are only required to make a deposit at the time of booking. Payment of the remaining balance is usually due a month before your departure date. Some hotels will keep your credit card on file to hold your reservation, and will charge you only after you checkout at the end of your stay.
